Jailbreak

Ok I’m going to show you how to jailbreak your ipod touch to firmware 2.2.1

Do not wory as the ipod touch and iphone cannot be bricked (unless you type a death code in terminal. So there is practically nothing to worry about when jailbreaking the ipod touch, I only see benifits, and not negatives!

However I do not recommend following this guide if you have a iphone. I am hoping to write a guide on how to jailbreak ipod touch in the future.

Ok, enough chitchat. Let’s get started

Follow these steps in order, and you will be home free (so to speack of)

1. Download quickpwn. 2.2.5 (which is the version for the 2.2.1 jailbreak) QuickPwn for 2.2.1 Jailbreak

2. Next download the 2.2.1 firware for your ipod touch

3. Extract the quickpwn tool to the desktop

4. Take your iPod Touch and plug in the USB cable

5. Backup anything that you may want to keep on the ipod to your computer (the itunes backup just backups settings).

6. Hold down shift, and right click the restore button in itunes. (Just hit restore if already on 2.2.1)

7. Now find your 2.2.1 firmware file

8. Wait for your iPod to restore

9. Do not do anything to your ipod in itunes and continue to the next step

10. Close iTunes and get redy to Jailbreak.

11. Run the QuickPwn with iTunes closed and your ipod still connected to the
computer

12. Hit next, make sure it is plugged in at all times

13. Your computer will look for the right firmware file. Make sure it is the same file you used to restore your iPod with

14. Almost there

15. Hit next

16. Follow the Instructions given to you. You will need to hold a series of buttons down. If you mess up do not worry, just try again

17. When a green loading bar appears on your computer let go of the home botten

18. Wait for the jailbreak to process to finish.

19. After its done your iPod will be activated with Cidya and installer to

Now you have braging rights to a Hacked iPod Touch!

As most of you already know, Apple will be releasing the new iPhone and iPod Touch OS this summer, 3.0!! It is amazing! With hundreds of additional adjustments and new add-ons, Apple will only fortify its already solid position as the owner of the worlds best hand-held operating system. The new SDK will allow for enormous strides to be made in the App world (including P2P)!

However, do not succumb to “Itchy Update Fingers” as The Dev Team terms it. What they mean is not to update the second it is released. It will be free to all 3G owners and will cost iPod Touch Owners another $9.99 or so. Although they are easily Jailbreakable, make sure you acquire the necessary update first.

    Details:

Wait for a PwnageTool release that creates a custom IPSW that avoids the baseband update that 3.0 will try to force upon your device.

Just when I thought that they could not make an mp3 player any smaller – apple does it again. Their new iPod shuffle is a pretty amazing piece of technology (they claim it is the world’s smallest mp3 player).

The new shuffle will use Apple’s “Voice-Over” to speak to you. It sounds pretty good and is surprisingly non-robotic for a computer. Harboring 4GB of space it will allow you to hold up to 1000 songs.

The only control on the the actual device is “off”, “shuffle” and “Stop”. Other than this all the controls are located on the headphones (proprietary of Apple of course). Hear you can push and hold the center to activate voice-over; push the center twice to get to the next song; use the volume controls; select playlist; etc.

It comes in both silver and black. It also includes a silver clip.

The Battery lasts 10 hours on a full charge.

    Cost = $79.00

Today is the release of the “news” of the untethered jailbreak for the iPod Touch 2G. This means that you will soon be able to jailbreak a 2G easily just like an iPhone or 1G. What they announced is that Quickpwn will be updated quite soon for the 2G. I know you are skeptical about this. Don’t worry. When the Dev Team announces a release, it will come out soon. If you are a hardcore hacker, go to their site and get the code now. If you are like the rest of us, just wait.

    A new Cydia

Cydia is planning upgrade from a mere app repository to an actual App store. For those of you don’t know, Cydia is an application that allows Jailbroken iPods/iPhones to download Apps not available in the official App store. Cydia offers apps not allowed in the App Store, such as the free Cycorder app, which allows the iPhone to shoot video, and PdaNET, a $29 program that allows the iPhone to act as a cellular modem.
